2010 Art Camp Dates & Themes
Every week will be capped off with a Friday Movie Popcorn Party!
Week 1 / June 7 - 11: Toy Story 3
Could it be more fitting for our first week of camp to present Toy Story 3 in celebration of our move to a large new space inside of GreenScenes Toys? Campers will fill their handmade Toy Box with Mr. Potato Head, Slinky dog, Hammy the Piggy Bank, Peas in a Pod, Woody and Buzz and more.
Week 2 / June 14 - 18: Shrek and Everything Green
This week campers will overrun the swamp when they create their favorite characters Donkey, Shrek and Puss in Boots from the movie in paintings, sculptures and even a pillow. Building a big colorful Fiona's Castle will be a ball. Shrek will "GO Green" on his own creatively designed tee shirt.
Week 3 / June 21 - 25: Up and Everything in the Air
What does a big goofy bird, a Magritte Sky Painting, a round little boy scout, a house with balloons and cute dog have in common? They're all up in the air and will be the subject of this week's high flying camp.
Week 4 / June 28 - July 2: Night at the Museum 2
What's it like to spend the night at the museum and see things come to life? Through their art your camper will find out as they bring the Pharaoh back to life, visit with Teddy Roosevelt Bear and Amelia Earhart & her plane. There also will be ancient treasures and other fun stuff.

Week 5 / July 12 - 16: Where the Wild Things Are
Our art campers won't have to sail across the sea to find Wild Things. All they have to do is attend this week's camp. We will venture into the wild art of Jackson Pollack and Henri Rousseau. Wild monster masks, monster sculptures and King Max's Crown will put your camper in the middle of excitement.
Week 6 / July 19 - 23: Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs
Food & weather are joined together in this wacky week. Campers will feel like residents of ChewandShallow as they create umbrellas to protect themselves from the Giant Hamburgers. Spaghetti & Meatballs will hover above. Inspired by Magritte, campers will paint their own Pie In the Sky masterpieces & there is more on the menu!
Week 7 / July 26 - 30: Alice in Wonderland
When Art meets Alice it is wonderful in Wonderland. Imagine your camper in their Mad Hatter Hat surrounded by many of their favorite characters, including Cheshire Cat, White Rabbit, Red Queen and others. Oops, here we go down the rabbit hole!
Week 8 / August 2 - 6: Avatar and Everything Blue
Campers won't be blue in this dynamic week filled with all things Avatar. From gorgeous landscapes to a scary Robot to beautiful Neytiri, campers will be using painting, bas relief & sculpture to explore Pandora. While the week is Pandora, you cannot mention the words "art and blue" without also creating a Rodrigue Blue Dog Painting.
Week 9 / August 9 - 13: How to Train a Dragon
Spend a week on Berk Island with Vikings and Dragons. Your camper will be as inventive as Hiccup while designing their own dragon defense. Every proper Viking needs a sword, shield, helmet and a Viking Ship, all of which will be made this week. No dragon training week is complete without your camper constructing their own special dragon.
Week 10 / August 16 - 20: Madagascar: Escape to Africa
This week escape with us to Africa. The campers will create an African environment complete with an African Hut, African Shield and an awesome Alex the Lion Mask. Then join Skipper, Marty, Melman and Gloria at the base of a fiery volcano diorama. Your campers will be happy that they escaped to Art Camp this week!
